Cox HealthPlans is a proud sponsor of the American Cancer Society. We are joining with the Springfield Relay For Life to help support those in the community we serve. In an effort to help raise money for the cause, the employees of CHP have put together some very attractive “Theme Baskets” to be raffled off. All proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, 12 for $10, or 25 for $20. A great fundriasing idea from Scott Smith, Team Recruitment Chair:
Here is a great idea that our team is using in our workplace. We took an empty 5 gallon water bottle ( for those neat water coolers) and put it at the reception desk. A sign that says" You can "Change" a Life" was put on it. People are dropping change in and it is beginning to add up. Little things - they will add up!!

ACS GARAGE SALE
The ACS will be hosting a garage sale at the Springfield office at 3322 S. Campbell on Saturday, May 19th from 7:00 am to noon. Committee Spotlight: June Lammers

Enno, 2009 RFL Co-Chair.
June Lammers got involved on a Relay Team in 2001. In 2002, she joined the committee as
Luminaria Ceremony Co-Chair. Since then,
she has served in many committee positions to include Event Director and
Co-Chair. In 2011, many committee members
(and a few margaritas) convinced June she would be great for sponsorship. Now, June holds the Sponsorship Chair title
for the 2012 Springfield/Greene County Relay for Life. In June’s spare time, she is the Team Captain
for Team Hospitality and Hope. She also
serves as the Chair for the Relay for Life Chairman’s Circle, a group of
community leaders formed to stimulate growth, recognition, and participation in
Relay. June Relays because so many
people in her family have been victims of cancer. She hopes to be a part of the elimination of
this disease all together.

Take care of your heart and help lower your cancer risk by eating smarter and being more active. The American Cancer Society has updated its guidelines for nutrition and physical activity to help you reduce your risk of cancer. And a recent study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention found that nonsmokers whose lifestyles were most consistent with Society guidelines had a significantly lower risk of dying from cancer, cardiovascular disease, or all causes combined.
You may already be following our advice. If you are not and want to make changes, try some of the tips here.
1. Achieve and maintain a healthy weight throughout life.
2. Adopt a physically active lifestyle.
3. Eat a healthy diet, with an emphasis on fruits and vegetables.
4. If you drink alcohol, limit how much you drink.

Missouri Lobby Day
During this year's legislative session, our elected officials in Jefferson City will be debating several issues important in the fight against cancer. We'll work to make our voice heard all year long, but one of the best ways for us to make our presence felt is a large showing for our Missouri Lobby Day event. This year, the event will be held Wednesday, April 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. More details and registration information will be coming soon, but now is the time to Mark Your Calendar for this important event.
